White Spot Treatment Rugby

Dr Janine Sohota offers quick, effective and pain-free dental white spot treatment in Rugby. White spot treatments are minimally invasive and can improve the cosmetic look of your tooth enamel where you may have cloudy looking white spots that spoil the quality of your smile.

Dr Sohota uses the ICON white spot treatment system, which is the latest cutting-edge treatment for this condition that uses a process called infiltration that doesn’t involve drilling into the tooth.

White spots can be a worrying development not just because of their cosmetic appearance, but it also could be a sign of an early cavitity developing within the tooth. By catching the cavity early at the white-spot stage, the cavity won’t progress and cause more serious damage to the tooth.

White spot appear on the teeth as a result of a cyclical imbalance between demineralization and remineralization within the teeth. White spots start to form when the remineralization period gets disrupted, delayed or prevented. This imbalance changes light reflection from teeth.

The ICON method of white spot removal that Dr Sohota uses is an industry-leading treatment that can improve the look of your teeth by reducing or even completely eradicating the appearance of white spots on your teeth.

The treatment is quick and effective with patients only needing one visit to complete and there is no pain or anaesthetic needed, or damage done to the teeth during treatment.

If you have noticed white spots developing on your teeth, do not hesitate to contact Dr Sohota to discuss having white-spot treatment.

Dental Veneers Rugby

Dental veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment that can help people with cracked, chipped or that have large gaps between their teeth to get a perfect smile. Veneers are also good for covering teeth that are heavily stained or discoloured that won’t benefit from teeth whitening treatments.

Dental veneers are thin skins or shells that are bonded to the tooth surface to make them look straight and even. These days dental veneers are made from very strong materials and patients can expect new veneers to last for a good five to ten years with proper care.

Most dental veneers are made from porcelain because it is a thin and translucent material that gives very natural looking results. Porcelain veneers have a great reputation for longevity with some people keeping them for up to 20 years with the right care and attention.

Composite veneers are another popular choice and these are made from a strong resin-based material. Composite veneers can be a more cost-effective option and you can expect a lifespan of five years or more with good care.

Whichever type of veneers you choose, both need a highly skilled dentist to apply who has plenty of experience, such as Dr Sohota, for perfect results and longevity.

Dr Sohota offers dental veneers in Rugby and you can talk to her about the different types of veneers and which type will be most suitable for you when you book a consultation and a full oral examination to make sure you are a suitable candidate for veneers.

Composite Bonding Rugby

Cosmetic dental bonding has been used for many years to help people transform their smile. Quite often your dentist can use composite bonding to improve your smile in just one visit, meaning you can walk out of our dental surgery with the perfect smile that you deserve.

Composite bonding uses a material called dental composite, which is a flexible paste-like material made from a mix of acrylic resins and fillers, depending on the type of bonding material used.

Composite bonding is used for a variety of cosmetic dental procedures, including:

Closing gaps between teeth

Repairing broken and chipped teeth

Replacing metal or amalgam fillings

Reshaping chipped teeth

Smile makeovers: composite veneers

White fillings

Composite white fillings

Composite white fillings are a popular choice because the composite material can be coloured to match the exact shade of your natural teeth. The filling can be shaped to match the texture and shape of your original tooth, so it can look natural and healthy, giving better results than silver fillings.

Old fashioned amalgam or silver fillings can look unsightly when you smile, so can negatively affect your self-esteem and how you feel about your smile.

Dr Sohota can replace your old metal fillings with tooth-coloured composite fillings, which are considered to be much better for your health than old mercury-containing amalgam fillings.

Composite bonding for an even smile

Not all composite bonding treatments need a local anaesthetic, but Dr Sohota will inform you if she must numb the treatment area with a local anaesthetic before going ahead.

When a tooth is being treated, the tooth surface will be thoroughly cleaned to remove any plaque or tartar build-up. This ensures that the composite material has a clean surface to bond with. Dr Sohota will blend your composite material to perfectly match the shade of your teeth.

Your tooth surface will then be roughened slightly to allow for better adhesion. The composite bonding material is then applied to the tooth surface and then hardened using a curing light.

Once enough layers of composite material have been built up, the tooth is then shaped, polished and buffed to get the desired shape and finish.

What to be aware of about composite bonding

While composite bonding materials are being improved on all the time, it doesn’t quite have the strength of some other dental restorative materials such as porcelain or ceramic. It is also more porous than ceramic or porcelain, so have a greater tendency to stain.

If you want to keep your composite bonded teeth looking bright and white, then try to avoid or reduce eating and drinking highly staining food and drink, and remember to brush your teeth afterwards.

A quick and simple way to get a great smile

Composite bonding is an effective and affordable way to get a beautiful smile, but remember that bonding requires a high level of skill that only a talented aesthetic dentist, such as Dr Sohota, can give.

Do not hesitate to contact our friendly dental team to discuss your cosmetic dentistry needs and see if composite bonding is a suitable treatment for you.

Cosmetic dentistry treatments with Dr Janine Sohota is the best solution for you when looking to resolve issues such as chipped, broken, misaligned, discoloured, and stained teeth.

You can have the single treatment you need to make your smile more beautiful, such as teeth whitening treatments, or if you need a complete smile makeover, Dr Sohota can combine the cosmetic dentistry treatments you need to give you the results you want.

Let’s take a look at some of the best cosmetic treatments you can have to resolve the dental issues you have.

Professional teeth whitening

Tea, coffee, red wine and food containing lots of spices can leave stains on your teeth that you cannot remove through regular tooth brushing alone.

Professional teeth whitening treatments are an effective way to remove stains from the surface of your teeth and is one of the most inexpensive cosmetic treatments you can have.

Depending on the severity of your tooth staining, your teeth whitening treatments can be done at our dental office as well as at home. Dr Sohota will give you advice if you have other dental issues such as sensitive teeth.

Dental implants

If you have missing teeth, then having dental implants is a good solution for most patients and will help to support your remaining teeth and give you a full, healthy smile. Dental implants are ideal for anchoring artificial teeth, such as crowns and bridges.

Dental crowns

Dental crowns are individually created to rebuild broken teeth. Crowns are made from porcelain or ceramic and look and work just like natural teeth. Crowns are used to treat badly broken, and severely decayed teeth. Often after a root canal treatment a crown will be indicated to provide protection/coverage to the brittle and fragile remaining tooth.

Metal crowns are a thing of the past, with the advent of technology and improved quality of ceramic materials a dental crown can be indistinguishable from the adjacent natural teeth. Dr Sohota works closely with the laboratory to ensure the finished crown looks as natural as possible.

Dental veneers

Cosmetic dental veneers are usually made from porcelain. Veneers fit snugly over the surface of your natural teeth and are a great solution for chipped, cracked or broken teeth, in addition they can often disguise misaligned teeth and transform a worn and stained smile. Veneers may require some alteration to the tooth though this is minimal. Porcelain Veneers have the advantage in that they do not stain and are much stronger than composite bonding so fracture/chipping is rare.

Composite bonding

Similar to veneers that are applied over your natural tooth surface, composite bonding is a great solution for chipped, broken, or deeply stained teeth. A composite bonding material is painted and moulded over your natural teeth and the colour will be adjusted to match your existing teeth for an even smile. Of course there is always the option to brighten the smile and use a lighter shade composite if you are looking for a bigger, brighter smile.

The composite material will be set on to the teeth using UV light and then trimmed, shaped and polished until they are gleaming. Be sure to check out some of the video transformations showing before and after. The great thing about this treatment is that it usually is completed in one visit, there is often no need for any drilling/alteration to the teeth and often no anaesthetic. Composite bonding is pain free.

Following the ABB protocol, Align (straighten the teeth) Bleach (whiten the teeth teeth) Bond (composite bonding) this is a great method of transforming a smile without damaging the underlying teeth. Regular polishing and maintenance is required and of course regular hygienist appointments.

Complete smile makeovers

If you are really self-conscious about your smile, then we can do a complete smile makeover where we can replace old dental work, such as silver fillings and broken crowns, crooked, chipped and heavily stained teeth and use a combination of treatments to give you a perfectly balanced, symmetrical smile that you can be proud of.

You may need cosmetic teeth reshaping where your tooth enamel is either filled or removed to reshape your teeth. Dr Sohota has a preference for metal-free dental restorations and finds the aesthetics with either Zirconia or Emax uncomparable to porcelain bonded restorations.
